I have decided to celebrate the little things in life as much as the big ones. And for me, the little things include having a clean house, finally finishing a book I’ve been reading or as was the case two weeks ago, finally finishing a crochet project that I’ve had lying around for over two years. The reason I couldn’t get it finished was that my yarn had run out, and the particular one I needed isn’t available in this country. So I finally got around to asking my friend Ruth, who lives in the UK, to send me the yarn, as it’s only available there. And sweet person that she is, she promptly sent it and I got to finish my project.

It’s a patchwork type baby blanket with individual squares that are then sewn together to form a blanket. I’m so excited to finally have it finished, and just in time for our baby. I love hand made things, and since I love knitting and crochet, that’s the type of stuff I like to make.

I also finished my photo album from my year in Germany which was in 2002. So it’s taken me 9 years to just get those photos sorted and into an album. But now it’s done and I am hugely chuffed about that accomplishment as well.

So to show off my finished projects, I took a couple of photos, so you can see my results! I think it’s really important to celebrate these little things as they encourage us to start new projects and finish the ones we do start

Here are my results:

Most of you who know me personally will know that we’re expecting a baby! It’s been such a crazy and interesting time these last couple of months, just trying to get used to the idea of our expanding family, going to doctor’s appointments, planning the big event and everything connected with it. We still have three more months to go, but time is flying by so fast and before we know it those three months will have gone by.

The baby’s coming is also the reason why I’ve been so scarce on the blog – and why my photography has suffered abominably these last couple of months. I know there’s no excuse, but such big changes in life certainly take some getting used to (even when they’re as happily anticipated as this one is!).

In the beginning it was pure exhaustion that kept me from photography, then it became winter and it was cold and the days got shorter, so I didn’t spend much time outside anymore. I also started a new job which took alot of time. Then I got sick with a nasty cold that wouldn’t go away…three times. And now that I’m almost over the last bout, it’s getting less and less appealing to lug my camera around as well (considering that I’m already carrying about 10 kilos more than I did before I got pregnant.) But I hope that you haven’t given up on me yet and I will try to get back into my photography and update this blog more regularly as well.

The other reason this blog has suffered a bit is because I started writing another non-photography related blog, which at the moment takes precedence, because it’s a letter-type journal to our baby which I started when I found out I was pregnant. So when I did find time to blog, my efforts went there instead of here.

I have however decided to invest a little more time now to keep this blog up to date as well. So, hopefully it won’t be months between posts anymore.

To give you a little sneak peak into our lives and what’s to come, here are two photos of the cutest things we’ve already been given by friends and family for the new family member when it arrives.

Happy Wednesday!

Ok, so I’ve been extremely scarce the last couple of weeks. Let me say, months. I guess I needed a little break from photos and blogging and just find a reason for my passion again. I still love photography, I still read other people’s blogs, I still browse hundreds of photos online, I still read magazines and love looking at nature. I guess I just lost the eye for capturing it myself. And so I took a break. Not just from photography, but from sitting at my computer. I started a new part-time job beginning of March and that also influenced me to rather do other things in my spare time than sit at my PC. That obviously meant I didn’t edit photos and also that I didn’t blog. But maybe you all needed a little break too.

For the northern hemisphere, spring has started. I can believe that the flowers everywhere must be breathtaking. I miss it just thinking about it. Here autumn is moving in with full force. Trees are turning red and brown, the weather has chilled considerably and even though we’ve had quite a lot of rain, it’s definitely starting to feel like winter is approaching. Goodbye, you beautiful summer. We’ll miss you.

But I do love autumn. The colours, the cooler weather, the need to drink tea again, the delight in warm cups of hot chocolate, lovely soups that warm me from the inside…I love them all. So, today when we went for our walk, I took my camera along. It was strange trying to see things again through a lens, looking at the world with photos in mind. I do that anyways, but most of the time lately I didn’t have my camera with me, so they were photos that were never meant to be. Today I tried to capture a few of my impressions of autumn in our neighbourhood. Partly they look more like spring or just another ordinary summer pic, but for me they are the first stirrings of autumn and that’s what I want to share with you.

Hope you have a lovely week ahead of you and hope you enjoy the photos!

Last week we went on a little trip to Namibia, mainly to visit my husband’s extended family. But I also hoped to get some photo opportunities. Unfortunately I was sick most of the week and so I didn’t get to photograph as much as I wanted to. I guess I will have to go back another time on a dedicated photo tour.

I also decided to skip the 365 project for these two weeks, because I was sick so much and I didn’t want to have that stress on top of everything. So the 365 project will continue next week after this tw= week break.

Because I did end up with quite a few pictures, I will make this a two-part post, so that I can show you all of them (which will also hopefully make up for the lack of 365-project pics these two weeks)
Hope you enjoy my impressions of Namibia.

Happy Thursday!

February is almost over and it doesn’t feel that way. Only 10 months of the year left. It seems to me the older I get, the faster time flies. Age seems to creep up on all of us

But February is also the “month of love” at least for Hallmark and every other florist and shop out there. They love the month because it means people spend money on flowers, chocolates and heart-shaped what-nots, to show their loved ones that they care. Although I’m not a big advocate for Valentine’s Day (I have nothing against it, I’m just not always in the mood to celebrate it on THAT specific day), I decided to make my theme for this week “Love”. So I took some random photos that display “love” in some form or way.

As we are leaving on holiday tomorrow I’ll keep this short and sweet. But once I’m back, I’ll update you on our holidays and hopefully have some nice photos to show you! Here’s hoping.

Have an awesome week everyone and I’ll be back in a week’s time!
